This board on Pinterest puts it best, “Parenting is hard AF”.
Our social media feeds are filled with parenting advice mixed with images of ‘insta family perfection’ and it can really add to your already maxed out mental-load as a parent.
Every situation is unique, so the generic advice you find on blogs or by watching 1 person talk into a camera most likely isn’t giving you the clarity that you so badly desire.
GIVE ME PEACE OF MIND! Am I right?
ParentMentor.com is here to cut out the noise and get you the tailored advice and support for every parenting challenge at every different stage.
What is ParentMentor?
ParentMentor connects parents and parents-to-be with vetted mentors who offer personalized guidance on various parenting topics.
With topic based filters, parents can search for mentors who have experience in that exact area AND want to help others get through it.
Another way to connect with mentors is for a parent to write up their challenge as a ‘help request’. These get piped into a feed where mentors can apply to the requests that they feel they can help with.
And if you want to take the easy way, you can simply write in your challenge into our AI matching and you’ll get some mentor profiles sent to you.
While we do use AI for handy things like mentor matching, but the rest of this platform is built upon human interaction. One of our core values is 1:1 human interaction as we strongly believe it is the best way to learn.
Once you decide on a mentor that you would like to speak with you can schedule a 1:1 call with within the system.
You’ll pick a time from their availability that they have set.
And then enter the details about what you want to speak to the mentor about.
The mentor will be notified of the request and get back to you if they have any further questions.
When it comes time for the call you’ll connect using our built in video room right in your user dashboard.
Who is ParentMentor for?
Any parent or parent to be who wants to connect 1:1 for any of the following
- Personalized advice
- A sounding board
- Brainstorming
- Venting frustrations
Talking to someone who has been through the exact struggle you are facing and lived to tell the tale is priceless… not only for the tips they can share, but also for the clarity you’ll have moving forward knowing that you did your homework and spoke 1:1 with someone who’s been though it.
From expecting parents to parents of teenagers, our mentors cover the gamut.
As far as what to talk about, we found these ten themes to be the most prevalent among the parents whom participated in our user research:
- Work/life balance
- Early Parenting Challenges
- Support During Life Transitions and Critical Stages
- Finding Diverse Perspectives and Experiences
- Validating Parenting Decisions
- Managing Parenting-Related Anxiety and Stress
- Navigating Parenting Philosophies and Values
- Practical Advice for Specific Medical Challenges
- Creating a Support Network
- Seeking Emotional Support
As you can see, the trend is heavily focused around what is going on in the parent’s heads as opposed to the physical real world of the child.
Parents need a non-biased outlet to talk things through without fear of judgment that they feel they would receive by speaking with family or friends.
What can I talk about on ParentMentor?
Anything that is stressing you out in the world of parenthood!
From anxiety that comes with expecting your first child to specific challenges that arise out of nowhere like “my child is being bullied at school”.
If you want to dig into some real-life use cases, here’s a big ‘ol list.
